Buying an Apartment

If you’re buying an apartment, villa or townhouse, it will most likely be governed by either strata title or company title, though strata tends to be more common.

What is the difference between Strata and Company title?

When you buy an apartment governed by Strata law you essentially have a legal interest in the property as is evidenced by the Certificate of Title you gain.

An apartment under Company title means that you in effect purchase shares in the company that owns the building. You have a contractual right to use and occupy part of that building but do not own it per se.
